15:00-05/21/15- Santa Cruz- The Santa Cruz Harbor will be getting a new dredge. The Port Commission has awarded a 4.9 million dollar contract to replace the aging Seabright dredge. The decision to replace the nearly 30 year old dredge was made after cost analysis comparisons for a complete overhaul of the Seabright indicated a new replacement would be more cost effective. The Seabright was put into service in 1986 for 1.7 million dollars. The new dredge is scheduled to be in service next summer.
