(18:03) PANOCHE VALLEY – A solar project that has been 5 years in the making was given the go-ahead this week. The Panoche Valley Solar Project was unanimously approved by the San Benito County Board Of Supervisors. They say the project could generate hundreds of construction jobs, and enough power for 68,000 homes. Environmental groups such as Defenders Of Wildlife say that they support renewable energy sources, but add that the location picked for this project is a poor choice because of the ‘threatened’ and ‘endangered’ species that live there. Some of those include the San Joaquin kit fox, the blunt-nosed leopard lizard, and the giant kangaroo rat. (S.S.)
