(07:40) Santa Cruz – A UC Santa Cruz protest turned violent yesterday. May Day demonstrations nationwide focused on standing up for the rights of immigrants and workers; however Santa Cruz activists refused to comment on what their cause was for. Protestors blocked vehicles from entering the campus and a man was punched as he tried to cross through a picket line. One demonstrator was arrested for assaulting a police officer, and another person was arrested for fighting with a protestor on campus. Some classes were also canceled for the day.
