(18:17)CENTRAL COAST- The CHP has implemented Maximum enforcement patrols. The maximum enforcement began at 6:01 p.m. Friday and runs through 11:59 p.m. July 4th. In 2016, 35 people were killed on the road during the maximum enforcement period, 65 percent weren’t wearing seatbelts. Additionally 1,118 people were arrested for DUI. The CHP says the goal of maximum enforcement is to keep the roadways as safe as possible.
