The founder of Valley Churches United Missions in Santa Cruz County has died. Annette Marcum died over the weekend after battling long time complications of lung disease. The 75-year old Ben Lomond resident began organizing emergency relief efforts in the San Lorenzo Valley in 1982 following the Love Creek mudslides. The organization provided food and assistance to over 7,000 county residents last year, and raised 10-million dollars annually with it’s Christmas project. Marcum has one biological daughter along with 10 developmentally challenged foster children. Services will be held on February 8th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Boulder Creek.
