(11:17) SANTA CRUZ- The U.S. Coast Guard has declared the Santa Cruz Harbor entrance an emergency safety zone. The implementation of the safety zone prohibits all vessel traffic between the launch ramp and the harbor mouth until May 1st, due to unsafe water depths. However restrictions to the federally administered waterway could be lifted in as soon as two weeks if emergency dredging operations are successful. The ban does not apply to search and rescue vessels.
