(08:21) MONTEREY – Humane officers seized a dog and nine puppies from a homeless woman in Monterey on Wednesday. Police contacted the SPCA after finding the animals living in deplorable conditions in a truck with a camper shell on Garden Road. The puppies were younger than eight weeks old and their mother was underweight and suffering from a skin condition. The owner of the vehicle, Ashley Todd, was ordered to appear in court May 11 to address a charge of depriving an animal of necessary sustenance. (S.G.)
