A 19 year-old known Watsonville gang member now faces 8 years in prison for shooting his friend by mistake in January. Ricardo Jesus Garcia, was reportedly drunk when the handgun he was playing with went off (while he was sitt ing in the back seat of a car his friend (30 year-old Octavio Varela Gutierrez) was driving. Instead of staying to try and render assistance, Garcia fled the scene. Last month, Garcia pleaded “No Contest” to a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter.
