A TRAFFIC STOP SETUP BY POLICE IN SALINAS TURNED INTO AN INVESTIGATION EARLY WEDNESDAY, WHEN A PASSENGER RAN AWAY FROM HIS VEHICLE ON FOOT. A SALINAS POLICE OFFICER STOPPED A CAR WITH EXPIRED REGISTRATION DURING A ROUTINE PATROL ON HOMESTEAD AVENUE, (SOUTH OF ALISAL STREET) AND ONCE PULLED OVER THE PASSENGER FLED THE VEHICLE. OFFICERS AT THE SCENE SET UP A PERIMETER TO ATTEMPT TO STOP THE MAN, BUT NO ARRESTS WERE MADE. THE OFFICER WHO PULLED THE MAN OVER CITED HIM FOR EXPIRED REGISTRATION.
