A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON HIGHWAY 17 IS SET TO BEGIN THIS WEEK. THE 18 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO INCLUDE TALLER, MORE PROTECTIVE GUARDRAILS, NEW PAVEMENT, AND REPAIRS ON A DRAIN SYSTEM ALONG THE HIGHWAY. CALTRANS OFFICIALS SAY WORK IS SLATED TO BEGIN ON JUNE 5TH, AND WORK WILL MOSTLY BE DONE AT NIGHT TO MINIMIZE TRAFFIC DELAYS. WORK IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AT 9 P.M. ON WEEKENDS AND 10 P.M. ON WEEKENDS, THE PROJECT COULD LAST AS LONG AS 18 MONTHS.
