For the third time in as many months, a Salinas mailbox, that serves 40 homes, has been broken into. The residents, who believe the thief had a key to the back of the box, are missing important documents such as tax returns, retirement information, and insurance information. Those found guilty of breaking into a mailbox can face up to 5 years in a federal prison, and up to a quart-million dollars in fines…..in fact, just being in possession of a counterfeit postal key is a Federal Felony and can land a person in a federal prison for 10 years.
