A “MADE IN MONTEREY COUNTY” MOVIE IS EXPECTED TO OPEN IN THEATERS THIS FRIDAY, BUT THE COUNTY, AND VARIOUS BUSINESSES MADE MONEY ON IT LONG BEFORE THAT. “BIG SUR” IS BASED ON JACK KEROUAC’S NOVEL, AND FILM CREWS SPENT 11 DAYS FILMING FOOTAGE ON THE BIG SUR COAST BACK IN 2011. THAT MEANS THEY HAD TO PAY PERMIT FEES, LOCAL TAXES. FILM CREWS ALSO TEND TO SPEND MONEY ON LOCAL HOTEL ROOMS, AS WELL AS GOODS AND SERVICES.
