U.S. Forest officials have reduced the fire restrictions in the Los Padres National Forest. They’ve dropped the restrictions from Level 4 to Level 2…effective immediately. Under Level 2 fire restrictions campfires and charcoal barbeques are permitted in all developed campgrounds (aka designated campfire use sites). Also under Level 2 restrictions, a California campfire permit is required to use portable lanterns (or stoves) using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel outside of developed campgrounds. Those permits can be picked up at any Forest Service (or Cal Fire office), or downloaded for free from the Los Padres National Forest website.
