According to new information released today, local unemployment rates are on the decrease. In Santa Cruz County, the unemployment rate fell from 11.5% in May to 11.3% in June. In Monterey County the unemployment rate declined from 11% in May to 10.8% last month, and in San Benito County, the rate also decreased last month from 17.6% in May to 15.7%. The statewide unemployment rate also fell slightly last month from 12.4% in May to 12.3%.
