A FIRE INVOLVING A CARMEL CAR GARAGE LAST NIGHT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. AT AROUND 8:40 THE CYPRESS FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT RESPONDED TO THE FIRE ON THE 3000 BLOCK OF MESA ROAD. THE FIRE ENGULFED A DETACHED 3-CAR GARAGE, DESTROYING 2 CARS INSIDE. FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO KEEP THE BLAZE FROM SPREADING TO THE HOME AND OTHER STRUCTURES. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

THE STATE WATER BOARD APPROVED THE REQUEST 2 WEEKS AGO, WHICH WILL RETAIN 100 MILLION GALLONS OF WATER IN THE CITY’S LARGEST WATER STORAGE FACILITY TO COMBAT THE DROUGHT. TOMORROW THE CITY COUNCIL IS DECLARING A WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY TO REDUCE OVERALL USE BY 3 MILLION GALLONS PER DAY.
POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING THAT TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT IN SALINAS. JUST BEFORE 9 O'CLOCK TWO 16-YEAR OLD VICTIMS WERE FOUND WITH MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS ON THE 1100 BLOCK OF NORTH SANBORN ROAD. THEY WERE TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITALS. MEANWHILE A THIRD VICTIM, AN 18-YEAR OLD WHO HAD ALSO BEEN SHOT AN 18-YEAR OLD BEEN SHOT, WAS TAKEN BY A PRIVATE VEHICLE TO THE HOSPITAL BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE INCIDENT IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS GANG-RELATED.
A Silver alert has been issued for a Capitola man reported missing from his care facility over the weekend. 78-year old Ira Bert Russak was last seen yesterday morning when staff at the Capitola Manor noticed he was no longer in his room. Staff believe Russak used a chair to get over the fence in order to leave the facility. They say Russak has a history of walking away from the facility along with jumping over the fence. Russak suffers from dementia but is coherent. He is described as 5-foot-9, weighing about 150-pounds with Brown hair and eyes. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Capitola police.

THE ZERO WAS THE ONLY ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE TO MAKE THE LIST THAT PUT IT ALONGSIDE OTHER BIKES NAMED, SUCH AS HARLEY DAVIDSON, INDIAN, DUCATI, AND TRIUMPH.
