THE  DEADLINE  FOR  COMMENTS  ON  A   PRIMARY  SOIL  FUMIGANT  (USED  BY  MANY  STRAWBERRY  GROWERS),  HAS  BEEN  EXTENDED.      IN  AN  ATTEMPT  TO  PROTECT  RESIDENTS  (AND  BYSTANDERS)  FROM  EXPOSURE  TO  chloro-PICK-rin,   THE  DEPARTMENT  OF  PESTICIDE  REGULATION HAS  PROPOSED  ADDITIONAL  SAFEGUARDS.  NOW PEOPLE  HAVE  UNTIL  AUGUST  31ST TO  EXPRESS  THEIR  VIEWS  ON  THE  FUMIGANT,  AND  THE  PROPOSED  SAFEGUARDS.   COMMENTS  CAN  BE  E-MAILED  TO:
