Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

SOQUEL  CREEK  WATER  BOARD MEMBERS DECIDED  LAST  NIGHT  TO INCREASE  THE  WATER OFFSET  FEES TO  160  PERCENT  FOR  BOTH  RESIDENTIAL  AND  COMMERCIAL  DEVELOPERS.     THEIR  GOAL  IS  TO  OFFSET  THE  WATER  USE  IN  THE  OVERALL  DISTRICT  BY  200  PERCENT.    DISTRICT  OFFICIALS  ALSO  SAY  THAT  WITHOUT  A  NEW  WATER  SOURCE  AVAILABLE,    THEY  WILL  HAVE  TO  INCREASE  CONSERVATION,  OR  CREATE  AND  ENFORCE  A  MORATORIUM  ON   NEW  WATER  USERS.

THE  SOQUEL  CREEK  WATER  DISTRICT  IS  STILL  CONSIDERING  WORKING  WITH  THE  CITY OF SANTA CRUZ  ON A  NEW  DESALINATION  PLANT,   THAT  BOTH  WATER  DISTRICTS  COULD  UTILIZE.
