Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

THE  SOQUEL  CREEK  WATER  DISTRICT WILL  BE  HOLDING  A  PUBLIC HEARING  TONIGHT,  REGARDING  SEVERAL ISSUES INCLUDING:  POSSIBLE MANDATES FOR  GREATER WATER CONSERVATION;   A  MORATORIUM  ON  NEW WATER HOOK-UPS;  AND THE WATER  OFFSET  FEES.   THE DISTRICT CURRENTLY REQUIRES  DEVELOPERS TO PAY OFFSET FEES OF 120 PERCENT,  AND A PROPOSED INCREASE  WOULD  TAKE  THAT  UP TO 160 PERCENT FOR A SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING,  AND 220 PERCENT FOR  OTHER  DEVELOPMENT.   THE DISTRICT IS TRYING TO PROTECT ITS 2 AQUIFERS FROM SALTWATER INTRUSION.  THE  PUBLIC  HEARING  IS  SLATED  TO BEGIN  AT  7  P-M  TONIGHT  AT  CAPITOLA  CITY HALL.
