A  BAT,  FOUND  NEAR A  TRAIL  IN  LOS  GATOS  LAST  MONTH,  HAS  TESTED  POSITIVE  FOR  THE  RABIES  VIRUS.       THE  BAT  WAS  DISCOVERED  BY  A  HIKER  ON  THE  LOS  GATOS  CREEK  TRAIL.       ANYONE  WHO  MAY  HAVE  COME  IN  CONTACT  WITH  THAT  BAT,    IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  BE  TESTED  FOR  THE  RABIES  VIRUS.

Those  who  are  exposed  to  rabies,   generally  undergo   a  series  of  injections  (of  a  rabies  vaccine).

ALTHOUGH  INSTANCES  OF  HUMAN’S  GETTING  THE  DISEASE  FROM  A  RABID  ANIMAL  ARE  RARE,     UN-TREATED  RABIES  IS  ALMOST  ALWAYS  FATAL  TO  HUMANS.
