THE  AIR  TRAFFIC  CONTROL  TOWER  AT  SALINAS  MUNICIPAL  AIRPORT,  AND  THE  OTHER  142  TOWERS  SLATED  TO CLOSE,   WILL  REMAIN  OPEN…AT  LEAST  FOR NOW.   THAT’S  BECAUSE  THE  DEPARTMENT  OF  TRANSPORTATION WILL  NO  LONGER FURLOUGH  FEDERAL  AVIATION  ADMINISTRATION EMPLOYEES.  CONGRESSMAN  SAM  FARR  SAID  “Closing the tower would have jeopardized our local economy”  which is why Farr said he voted for the Reducing Flight Delays Act
