homeless man with a history of violence was sentenced to 12 years in prison.   55 year old randy ruben reyes was convicted last march FOR BRUTALLY attacking 2 other homeless men last october in downtown santa cruz. the attack, captured on a surveillance camera, left one of the men with a broken nose, and other broken facial bones.   this was the 3rd time reyes had been prosecuted for violent assaults, in santa cruz county alone.   the stiff sentence reflects public intolerance over the recent outbreaks of violence.
