Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

IN A SURVEY THAT WENT OUT TO 1,200 RANDOMLY SELECTED HOMES IN MONTEREY RESIDENTS SAID THEY SUPPORT A NEW ONCE CENT SALES TAX BUT DON’T WANT ALVARADO STREET TO BECOME A TWO WAY STREET.    THE CITY RELEASED THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY WEDNESDAY WHERE 57 PERCENT OF PEOPLE SAID YES TO THE SALES TAX AND 67 PERCENT SAID NO TO THE CHANGE TO ALVARADO STREET.   RESIDENTS RESPONDING TO THE SURVEY LISTED HOUSING (PARTICULARLY HOUSING COSTS AND OPTIONS) AS THE AREAS THE CITY COULD MOST IMPROVE IN.    MONTEREY RECEIVED HIGH MARKS FOR ITS AIR QUALITY AND THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.   THE COMPLETE SURVEY CAN BE READ ONLINE AT WWW.MONTEREY.ORG/COMMUNITYSURVEY.
