MONTEREY POLICE ARRESTED A MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY STABBED A

FAMILY MEMBER SEVERAL TIMES EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

POLICE WERE DISPATCHED TO A FIGHT AT THE 400 BLOCK OF ENCINA

JUST BEFORE 2 A-M THIS MORNING.           UPON ARRIVAL THE POLICE

WITNESSED 27 YEAR-OLD HUMBERTO LEYVA AND THE STABBING VICTIM

FIGHTING.       THE VICTIM A 39 YEAR-OLD MAN FROM MONTEREY   WAS

FLOWN TO SAN JOSE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER WHERE HE IS LISTED

IN STABLE CONDITION.      LEYVA WAS BOOKED AT MONTEREY CITY JAIL

ON ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE  AND ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

CHARGES.    HE    IS BEING HELD ON MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLARS

BAIL.
