A  97 YEAR-OLD  MAN  SUFFERED  FATAL  INJURIES  WHEN  HE  WAS  HIT  BY  A  CAR  AS  HE  WALKED  IN  PACIFIC  GROVE  YESTERDAY.     THE  7:43  A.M.  ACCIDENT  OCCURRED  AT  THE INTERSECTION  OF  PINE  AVENUE AND  19TH STREET.     THE   PEDESTRIAN  WAS  TRANSPORTED  TO  COMMUNITY  HOSPITAL  OF  THE  MONTEREY  PENINSULA,  WHERE  HE  SUCCUMBED  TO HIS  INJURIES.   THE  55  YEAR-OLD  DRIVER  (WHO  WAS  DRIVING  EASTBOUND  ON  PINE)  SAID  HE  WAS  DRIVING  INTO  THE  SUN  AND  DID  NOT  SEE  THE  PEDESTRIAN.
