Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

IN SALINAS AT LEAST ONE CAR WAS STOLEN EVERYDAY IN THIS MONTH ALONE.    ACCORDING TO INSURANCE AGENCIES, INSURANCE RATES COULD GO UP IN THE LONG TERM IF THE SPIKE CONTINUES.     THE RATE AT WHICH CARS ARE STOLEN HAS TO BE CONSISTENT FOR IT TO AFFECT INSURANCE, BUT SO FAR THE NUMBERS SHOW A TREND WITH 126 CARS STOLEN IN FEBRUARY.    DUE TO THE RECENT SPIKE IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PEOPLE PARK THEIR CARS IN A GARAGE OR WELL LIT AREA AND KEEP VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT.
