Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

A SOLDIER,  WHO  WISHES  TO  REMAIN  ANONYMOUS,   HAS  HONORED  FALLEN  SANTA  CRUZ  POLICE  OFFICERS  SERGEANT  BUTCH  BAKER AND DETECTIVE  ELIZABETH  BUTLER…WITH  HIS  PURPLE  HEART  MEDAL,  AND  A  TEDDY  BEAR.      HE  SENT A  LETTER  TO  THE  SANTA  CRUZ  POLICE  DEPARTMENT  ABOUT  THE  SYMBOLOGY  INVOLVED.     THE  TEDDY  BEAR IS  FOR  THE  LOVE  OF  THE  COMMUNITY  FOR  THE  POLICE,   THE  RED  RIBBON FOR  THE  PRECIOUS  BLOOD  SHED  IN THE  LINE  OF  DUTY….AND  THE  PURPLE  HEART IS  FOR  THE  SACRIFICE  ABOVE  AND  BEYOND  THE  CALL  OF  DUTY.

SINCE  LAST  TUESDAY’S  FATAL  SHOOTING,   PEOPLE  HAVE  CONTINUED  TO  DROP  OFF  FLOWERS  AND  OTHER  MEMENTOS  AT  BOTH  THE  MEMORIAL  AT  DOYLE  STREET  AND  NORTH  BRANCIFORTE  AVENUE NEAR WHERE  THE  OFFICERS  WERE  AMBUSHED,  AND  THE  ONE  OUTSIDE  THE  SANTA  CRUZ  POLICE  STATION.
