Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

29 YEAR OLD SCOTTS VALLEY RESIDENT BRYAN MATTHEW MARTIN PLED NO CONTEST TO SEVERAL CHARGES THIS AFTERNOON.      HE AND ANOTHER MAN, WALKED AWAY FROM THE ROUNTREE DETENTION CENTER BACK IN SEPTEMBER,  WHILE THE TWO WERE ON A BREAK FROM A RECIDIVISM CLASS.       SHORTLY AFTERWARDS,  THEY BROKE INTO A NEARBY HOME,  AND STOLE A 1985 HONDA WAGON (AND THE PURSE OF A WOMAN, WHO WAS ASLEEP IN THE HOUSE AT THE TIME).      2  DAYS LATER,  MARTIN,  WHO WAS CONSIDERED A “LOW RISK” INMATE,  WAS RE-ARRESTED.

MARTIN MADE AN OPEN PLEA THIS AFTERNOON.     THIS MEANS THAT THERE IS NO SENTENCING AGREEMENT WITH THE PROSECUTOR.
