Tick Warning 2/28/13 12p AF

The California Department of Public Health and Santa Cruz County Mosquito Vector Control are warning residents venturing out into wooded areas to be careful of ticks this season.     Eight cases of Lyme disease, passed on to humans by the ticks, were reported in Santa Cruz County last year.    Public Health officials suggest checking yourself and any children you’re with for ticks after hiking or being in heavily vegetated areas.     They also ask that people save the insects for testing and identification.
