Cal Fire Fees Upset Residents 1/30/13 10.35a AF

Many Central Coast residents are fighting even harder against a yearly “fire prevention” fee after a report released by the L.A. Times, which suggests that Cal Fire may have hidden $3.6 million in revenue.   Homeowners with structures in rural areas were asked to pay between $115 and $150 last year for fire prevention services because of their high risk locations.      Cal Fire representatives have said that the alleged money was allocated to a fund for training and equipment, and is not associated with money collected for fire prevention tasks.     In light of this new investigation though, many are upset about incurring these yearly fees.
