High Water Bill Surprises Resident 1/22/13 9.50a AF

The owner of a Monterey home was shocked when he opened a $6,000 bill from California American Water this month.     George Gergawy had recently put his Lyndon Street house up for sale, and vacated it last month.    An inspection done by someone from the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District at the beginning of January showed no issues with Gergawy’s pipes.   Gergawy said that his bills have consistently been around $15 a month over the past 5 years.    California American Water maintains that their meters are reliable and will investigate the case.
