Alisal Students In DC 1/22/13 8.45a AF
61 Alisal High School students from Salinas were in Washington DC yesterday to witness the second inauguration ceremony of President Obama. The group of students, who raised $75,000 for the trip, flew into the nation’s capital on Friday with a teacher. Twenty-five of the group were able to be seated inside the inauguration ceremony, while the rest of the teens watched the whole thing from the National Mall. They were also interviewed on NBC following the event. A tour of the Pentagon given by U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, is scheduled to be given to the students today. This group followed in the footsteps of the 33 Alisal High students who attended the last presidential inauguration in 2008, and put the challenge to future students to do the same.
