Person of Interest in Hit-and Run 1/22/13 7.40a AF

Salinas Police have taken a “person of interest” into custody in connection with Sunday’s fatal hit and run.      The incident, which killed the driver of a Honda Accord and injured a female passenger, occurred at 7:00pm at the intersection of McGowan and South Sanborn Road.     The SUV that struck the other vehicle was later located in a nearby neighborhood and police began searching for the driver.    Neither the identity of the victims or the person of interest has been released.    No formal charges have been filed with the Monterey County District Attorney’s office, and the investigation is ongoing.
