A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD LATER THIS MORNING, FOR A MAN WHO WAS A BRONZE-STAR WINNING ARMY PSYCHOLOGIST (WHO SERVED AS A COUNSELOR AT THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY VETERANS’ CENTER ON 41ST AVENUE IN CAPITOLA) FROM 2009 TO 2011. 42 YEAR-OLD PETER J N LINNEROOTH REPORTEDLY TOOK HIS OWN LIFE EARLIER THIS MONTH, AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER. LINNEROOTH IS CREDITED WITH HELPING MANY SOLDIERS WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THROUGHOUT HIS ARMY CAREER.
Linnerooth, who died in Minnesota, is survived by his mother, his widow and three children – A 10 year-old son and 6 year-old daughter from his first marriage, and a 4-month-old son from his second.
Today’s memorial service is being held at the National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
