DUI, assaulting deputy 01/10/13 7:45a.m. TDH

A 28-year-old Gilroy woman is facing D-U-I and assault charges, after seriously injuring a santa clara county sheRiff’s deputy.     Monica diaz had been pulled over on las animas avenue for a traffic violation.  after being contacted by the deputy, diaz allegedly tried to flee, smashing her vehicle into the depUty’s cruiser.  That resulted in serious injuries for the deputy, who was standing outside the vehiCle.  Diaz was apprehended, and arrested.
