Dennis the menace train report 01/08/13 9:30p.m. TDH
A report has been issued on the viability of keeping the old steam train at monterey’s dennis the menace park. Monterey city leaders hired consulting firm M-I-G to conduct an analysis of the playground and the train, which is facing removal. The M-I-G report outlines a number of safety and accessibility concerns with the steam train, including protruding features that could injure a child, and features that a child could get their head stuck in. the train is also not in compliance with the Americans with disabilities act, however that aspect partially hinges on whether the train is declared “play equipment,” or a “historical display.” Ultimately, the firm outlined a number of options for addressing the problems, and recommended trying to keep the train.
