authorities have officially shuttered the brookdale inn and spa.   boulder creek firefighters, santa cruz county sheriff's deputies, and the county building inspector were on hand friday to red-tag the historic site, declaring it to be "dangerous."  the closure affects all buildings on the property, which is to be closed until a number of code violations are fixed.  the red-tagging comes months after a 30-day deadline expired to fix the problems.  while some issues have been addressed, others remain, including a lack of monitors on smoke alarms and sprinkler systems.  brookdale owner sanjiv kakkar has faced a number of lawsuits related to violations on the property, including a civil suit related to the death of a man who fell and hit his head while at the inn.
