Herald’s Operation Christmas Cheer—65k 01/04/13 8a.m. TDH
The monterey area fundraising effort known as “operation Christmas cheer” garnered about 65-thousand dollars in donations this holiday season. The fundraising effort is spearheaded by the monterey herald, the salvation army, and 1st capital bank. The herald reports that donations to operation Christmas cheer are being distributed to families in need, through the salvation army. Applicants are screened, and approved, before receiving assistance. As part of the campaign, those that make a donation can use a coupon to have a personalized message printed in the newspaper.
