Go kart meeting marina airport 01/04/13 7:30a.m. TDH

Marina city leaders are scheduled to hold a special meeting today, to discuss re-instating permits for go-karts to be used at marina municipal airport.  Go-karters have been using the tarmac for years, with 2 groups—marina motorsports and monterey bay karters—holding regular events at the airport.   However, city officials revoked the permits last summer, under pressure from federal aviation officials, who argued the use of go-karts was not compatible with regular airport uses.  Marina city council members are preparing to implement procedures that would satisfy those concerns, including putting up, and removing, temporary fences during events.  The special meeting is set for 5:30 p.m.
