New cal trans “e-bid” system 01/03/13 7:40a.m. TDH

Cal-trans is set to start a trial of accepting contractor bids electronically.  The pilot program is designed to expedite the process of bidding for projects, as well as reduce processing costs.  Until now, contractor bids had to be physically delivered to Cal-trans district offices.  The new electronic bidding system, known as “e-bid” is expected to significantly simplify the bidding process.  The system is expected to gradually phase out the need for delivering paperwork in person, (but both systems will continue for now).    The e-bid website is online at: bid x dot com.
