Jail Drug smuggling plot foiled 12/20/12 9a.m. TDH
4-men have been identified as suspects in an attempt to smuggle drugs into santa cruz county jail. 2-men have been arrested, while 2 others are already behind bars. The plot began with a false call to watsonville police, reporting gang activity near a mall at 2nd and Rodriguez streets. 22-year-old Michael Gonzales and 25-year-old Abraham sanchez were arrested for probation violation, but a search of Gonzales revealed a variety of drugs that were hidden in an attempt to bring them into the jail. Gonzales was removed and booked later, while sanchez was booked on probation violation.
