accused murderer attmpt suicide 12/16/12 TDH

A salinas man who is in custody on suspicion of killing his mother is expected to recover, after reportedly trying to commit suicide.  Christopher Sorenson is being held at monterey county jail while legal proceedings continue.  He was let out of his cell for exercise at about noon sunday, when he is said to have jumped from an upper level onto the ground below. Sorenson fell about 20 feet; he was airlifted to a bay area hospital to be treated.   sorenson has previously been ruled mentally unfit to stand trial.
