Ocean trash bill advances 12/13/12 10p.m. TDH
The u.s. house of representatives and the senate have both unanimously passed a bill to fight ocean pollution. The “marine debris act” drew support from lawmakers across the political spectrum, including local congressman sam farr, who is a frequent supporter of environmental bills. The marine debris act allocates permanent funding for a N.O.A.A. program to remove debris including trash and fallout from disasters such as tsunamis and hurricanes. The bill now goes to president obama for his signature.
