Mco part of Walgreens settlement 12/13/12 8:30p.m. TDH

the drugstore chain Walgreens has agreed to a multi-million dollar settlement for dumping hazardous waste at sites throughout California.  The lawsuit was brought on behalf of 42-counties and 2-cities, where Walgreens was illegally dumping waste and improperly disposing of customers’ confidential medical information.  Monterey county will receive a portion of the 16-point-5-million dollar settlement, due to violations at all 5-stores in the county.   Walgreens did not acknowledge guilt in agreeing to the settlement, maintaining that the move was made to avoid a lengthy legal battle.
