water quality lawsuit 12/02/12 10 p.m. TDH
a collection of environmental organizations has filed a lawsuit against a state agency for delaying the rollout of new water safety regulations. the lawsuit was filed by the monterey-based otter project, along with 3 other organizations. the groups are faulting the state water resources control board for delaying the implementation of regulations that were designed to further restrict runoff from agricultural pollution. the regulations were approved in march by the regional water quality control board, but the state agency issued a "stay" on some of the new regulations in september. now, the otter project and other groups are asking the courts to intervene.
