Cesar chavez library renovations done 11/29/12 8:15p.m. TDH

A celebration is scheduled to be held this weekend in salinas, to mark the re-opening of the cesar chavez public library.  The branch on Williams road had faced closure in 2004, (along with a couple of other branches).  But, with the threat of losing the libraries, city residents voted to implement, (and then extend) sales tax rates in the city   (to keep the branches open).  The cesar chavez branch has been closed for a year for a 3-point-9 million dollar renovation.  This Sunday’s event at the library will celebrate the re-opening of the building, as well as the city’s dedication to literature.   The event is set to begin at 2 p.m.
