Conflict of interest trial 11/02/12 8:15a.m. TDH
A monterey county judge has ruled that the defense for a former monterey county water board member cannot call monterey county officials to testify in the case. Monterey Superior court judge Pamela butler ruled that the defense for steve Collins had not given sufficient reasoning for calling county officials to testify. The defense is seeking to prove that other county employees knew about all of collins’ business dealings, and if there was a crime committed, county employees should also be liable. Collins is facing conflict-of-interest (and other) charges, which, (in part), revolve around his consulting work for a proposed desalination plant. The preliminary hearing is set to continue November 13th.
