Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

FIREFIGHTERS FROM CAL FIRE, BOULDER CREEK, BEN LOMOND, FELTON AND ZAYANTE RESPONDED TO A FIRE ON OLD COUNTY HIGHWAY AND HIGHWAY 9 YESTERDAY. THE FIRE WAS REPORTED AT APPROXIMATELY 7:30 P.M. AND RESPONDING FIREFIGHTERS THAT ARRIVED ON THE SCENE FOUND A TWO-STORY BUILDING COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAME. HIGHWAY 9 WAS CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR WHILE FIREFIGHTERS FOUGHT THE BLAZE THAT APPARENTLY ORIGINATED FROM A BOY LIVING IN THE HOME PLAYING WITH A LIGHTER. THE FATHER OF THE YOUNG BOY THOUGHT HIS SON WAS STILL INSIDE THE HOME SO HE RAN IN; SUFFERING MINOR BURNS BUT HOSPITALIZATION WASN’T NECESSARY.
