AFTER YEARS OF TALK, A SMALL SCHOOL ON THE LAND OF MEDICINE BUDDHA CAMPUS IS EXPANDING. FOUNDED IN 1996 TARA REDWOOD SCHOOL OPERATES UNDER A MONTESSORI MODEL THAT ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO PURSUE THEIR INTERESTS, RATHER THAN CONFORM TO TRADITIONAL TEACHING MODELS. The "Three C" program - creating, compassionate and cultures emphasizes this kind of social and emotional development, and by understanding these precepts, children learn about responsibility, friendship and ethics, and that their actions do not exist in a vacuum.
