Park Rededicated to Slain Child 8/20/12 10a AF

A Salinas Park was renamed for a young boy killed in a shooting near the site 2 years ago.    A ceremony was held Sunday at Laurel Pocket Park to remember 6-year-old Azahel, who was hit by a stray bullet while in his family’s home in March of 2010.    The park was rededicated to the boy, who lived in an apartment right next door and often played there. No one was ever arrested in connection with the shooting, but Salinas Police believe that the bullet was a stray in a gang shooting.
