Alleged Rabbit abuser faces misdemeanors 06/25/12 8p.m. TDH

A former rabbit breeder is facing criminal charges related to the seizure of more than 1-hundred rabbits from his aptos property.  Mario albert de la garza is facing 10-misdemeanor counts for “failure to care for animals.”    This past November, 114-rabbits were seized from the property near freedom boulevard and hidden oaks lane.    De la garza has pleaded not guilty to the charges.  he is set to return to a santa cruz county courtroom august 2nd.   Many of the neglected rabbits have been placed with foster homes or adopted, while the remaining rabbits remain under the care of The rabbit haven rescue center.
